Gabrielle Lajoie-Bergeron
This publication was launched on June 19, 2017 on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition presented in Plein sud from May 20 to June 23, 2017 by Gabrielle Lajoie-Bergeron, recipient of the Bourse Plein sud in 2016.
By using frescoes or small paintings, drawings, numerous objects and texts, the young artist evoked notions such as the territory, speaking out, the public and the intimate, in a colorful and vibrant installation. By an effect of abundance, and based on archives or the memory of different people met by the artist, this exhibition confronted us with various archetypes of the female figure as they are conveyed in the images. With subtext sometimes violent and cruel stories, the work that Gabrielle Lajoie-Bergeron presented was also a source of meditation, opening voluntarily to introspection and interior spaces.
