For his exhibition at Plein sud, presented from November 17 to December 20, 2009, Mathieu Gaudet recreates in the gallery a metaphorical place where we see appear water bodies, rocky mountains or even sinuous lines that remind the shore of a lake. Deploying a set of visual occurrences, the artist appropriates, recovers and hijacks the traditional visual codes of painting and sculpture. This approach allows the artist to open a field of both familiar and strange relationships, in addition to appropriating the conventions usually associated with these two artistic mediums.
