Jocelyn Philibert. Metamorphosis of the Real
Jocelyn Philibert's artistic works, photographs or sculptures, have a strong and luminous materialistic presence that always surprises the viewer. The works brought together in this publication, particularly more recent photographs, are rendered with great power and depth, and the result is a richly illustrated book that lends itself to renewed consultation.
To report on the ways of this photographer, we called on three authors who demonstrated a great deal of sensitivity towards the artist's practice and depth in their reflection. Valérie Litalien traces the artist's journey back to its origins, demonstrating how his photographic portraits of trees are part of a natural continuity. Bernard Schütze examines the ambivalence of the real and the false that prevails in the artist's work, thus situating his analysis in a philosophical and historical context of art. For his part, the author Marcel Blouin shares his reflections on Philibert's photographs, works that he has been able to see closely.
