Marie-France Brière
This monograph offers an overview of the remarkable career of the sculptor Marie-France Brière. Authors examine in depth the path of the artist and shed penetrating light on his practice. In her text, the author Sylvie Parent shares a retrospective look at all of the sculptor's achievements, looking at the evolution of the themes and processes associated with her production. Pamela Bianchi dwells on the scenographic character and the architectural dimension of the works, putting into perspective the artist's approach in the context of contemporary art on the international scene. Finally, the monograph includes an abundantly documented section on the major public art projects of Marie-France Brière, most of them located in Montréal, accompanied by valuable comments written by the artist herself.
The monograph was launched on September 15, 2022 at the Labo culinaire of the Société des arts technologiques (SAT) in Montréal, where there is also a work by Marie-France Brière produced as part of the Politique d'intégration des arts à l'architecture et à l'environnement des bâtiments et des sites gouvernementaux et publics du gouvernement du Québec.
