Double Exhibition
This fall, two venues in dialogue, the Maison de la culture Marcel-Robidas and Plein sud, a contemporary art exhibition centre in Longueuil, invite the public to discover the fascinating work of Patrick Bérubé, a prominent figure in contemporary Quebec art.
Through immersive installations and assemblage sculptures, Patrick Bérubé transforms everyday, reclaimed, organic, and industrial materials into visual ecosystems that explore our relationships with the environment, the living world, and society.
At the Maison de la culture Marcel-Robidas, immerse yourself in a retrospective spanning more than twenty years of artistic practice. At Plein sud, discover the final chapter of an ambitious artistic trilogy.
Two-Part Opening: September 19, from 2 p.m.
To celebrate the opening of this double exhibition, we invite you to a two-part vernissage taking place at both venues.
The festivities will begin at 2 p.m. at the Maison de la culture Marcel-Robidas, followed by a second gathering at 3:30 p.m. at Plein sud, contemporary art exhibition centre.
To make travelling between the two venues easier, a free shuttle will provide round-trip transportation. This will allow you to fully enjoy the event and celebrate the opening of the double exhibition in the presence of the artist.
Wine, Boldwin beer, and popcorn will be generously provided.

At the Maison de la culture Marcel-Robidas
As part of the double exhibition And So On…, the Maison de la culture Marcel-Robidas presents a retrospective devoted to Patrick Bérubé. Featuring a selection of significant works presented across three rooms, the exhibition explores the central themes of a practice developed over more than twenty years: the mechanisms of repetition that permeate our societies, our ambiguous relationship with time and memory, and the powerful metaphor of mycelium as an underground network connecting living beings beyond visible boundaries. With irony and satire, Patrick Bérubé offers a critical perspective on capitalism, overconsumption, and the vulnerability of ecosystems. This retrospective invites visitors to make connections, follow the clues, and lose themselves in his vast rhizome of ideas.
At Plein sud
The third and final chapter of the Écho/Système trilogy, Patrick Bérubé’s installation at Plein sud unfolds as a projection toward the future and a meditation on the possible futures of the world and matter. A large copper and mycelium sculpture evokes an erratic boulder, a silent witness to a world in transition. An AI-generated video, displayed on an imposing translucent LED screen, blurs the boundary between the real and the virtual. A green carpet on the floor evokes cinematic green-screen techniques and their illusions. Both organic and technological, the works explore the natural, digital, and social networks that are reshaping our relationship to ecosystems, time, and memory.
