Marc Séguin – Tête aimée – English
Presentation of the work:
Tête aimée, 2003,
Oil on canvas, 12 x 10.6 inches
Estimated value $5,000
Presentation of the artist:
In 1996, at the very outset of his career, the artist presented one of his first solo exhibitions there: Marc Séguin. Ici-Maintenant. At the time, Séguin was still little known to the wider public, yet already animated by a striking pictorial force and a singular vision of the world.
A few years later, Plein sud dedicated a second exhibition to his work, Serial Killers, curated by Réal Lussier. Accompanied by a catalogue, the project reflected both the growing recognition of Séguin’s practice and the essential role the centre plays in fostering and disseminating the work of Québec artists.
Today, celebrated as one of the leading figures of contemporary art in Québec and Canada, Marc Séguin stands as a vivid example of Plein sud’s commitment to supporting emerging voices and offering a first platform to those who, like him, go on to leave a lasting imprint on the contemporary art landscape.
The artist and Plein sud:
Marc Séguin presented the exhibition Serial Killers at Plein sud from September 19 to October 25, 2009. That same year, Plein sud éditions published Serial Killers – Généalogie et Rébellion.
